Mason Daughters Level 5 Motorsports IMCA Sport Mod after a win in Harlan, Iowa on 08/24/2013.
PRIME Racing’s Driver Development Program has proven successful as 16 year old Polo, Missouri driver, Mason Daughters has now earned his 3rd feature event win in less than 30 nights of racing. As of June 2013, Daughters had never driven a full scale race car. Mentor and Instructor, Dustin Boney, accepted Mason as his first protege after being contacted by his father, Greg Daughters and Scott Tucker from Level 5 Motorsports in early May.
"We were looking for an experienced individual from the dirt scene who could take Mason from the highest ranks in karting to full scale competition. We honestly expected Mason to learn slowly and show improvement by next season," Greg Daughters commented.
After bringing the Prime Racing Development Team a win in late July at Osborn, Missouri's US 36 Raceway, Mason has added two more feature event wins to their short career together. On August 22nd, Mason won the very prestigious USRA Iron Man Event at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO. That event was only Mason's 2nd trip to the facility in which he dominated the race and claimed the $500 prize.
"It is exciting to see how Mason has progressed in such a short amount of time. I honestly do not miss being behind the wheel when Mason's ability can showcase my chassis set-up. Mason's success at the track is a direct result of my knowledge and the two of us working together. It has really been a rewarding experience," Dustin spoke of Mason's performances.
Following the win at Valley Speedway in the USRA Iron Man Series, Mason backed it up with a win just two nights later in his IMCA Northern Sport Mod at Harlan, Iowa.
"I was fortunate to start the feature up front and cruised to the win. The car's handling was perfect and Dustin showed me the preferred line before the feature started. I took the lead immediately but had to change my line late in the race as the track changed just a bit. Dustin has been an integral part of my advancement on the dirt," said Mason about his most recent win.
"We never expected Mason to be winning races this soon. Dustin has gone over and beyond our expectations and his knowledge is paying off as Mason's performances are astounding," Greg Daughters further noted.
Mason has his target on the 2nd Annual Baehman Law B-Modified Nationals at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin this week. With the success that Mason has already seized in only 30 nights of competition, Daughters and the Prime Racing Development Team will surely have eyes on them.
Once this season ends, Mason's next step is to
progress into A-modifieds which will teach him even more car control and expose
him to the biggest race events in the sport. Prime Racing's Development Team is already assembling a 2013 GRT by TC/PRP IMCA Modified for Mason to race early in 2014.
